This week 9 miles were on the schedule! Andria came to run with me even though she's not running Disney with me. We decided to do our favorite route that leads us downtown. We love that route...even though it means we have to run hills!
We started around 6:30 am...which meant we also got to watch the sunrise!
I was a little nervous about this run. If you remember after last week's run my quad was pretty sore. It was sore for a few days after and I was afraid I'd injured it. Luckily it quit hurting and is fine now. But it made me even more paranoid about new injuries or injuries from the past arising. Because of that...I decided to tape my knee that always gets injured. I felt a little something in it at #RnRNola so I'm not taking any chances!
I had also been dealing with Bronchitis all week. The night before I felt really bad. I almost decided not to do the long run. But I decided to wait until the morning and see how I felt. Luckily I woke up feeling good so I decided to go ahead and run!
The first mile I felt great! We got into a nice and easy pace. The weather was perfect for running...the temps were in the 30's. Before I knew it we were at mile 2 and in downtown.
It was fun running through downtown because it's all set up for Mardi Gras! There was a parade the night before so we saw all kinds of remnants from it....beads, candy, and the barricades!
It's not every day that you see these scattered all over the sidewalk!
At mile 3 we stopped for a quick water break. Then we got moving again. And then came the hills! We made it to mile 4.5 where we turned around and headed back home. The hills are the worst on the way back. But we made it! And I was feeling great and had zero pain anywhere! Yay!
We made a quick stop to take a picture in front of the new Mardi Gras flags our town got this year. See all the barricades up for the parade behind me?
Before long we reached mile 8...and then mile 9! We had done it! It was an amazing run! I was so happy to feel good and run with no pains!
Andria told me during the run that she had a surprise for me in her car. Guess what it was? Yummy low fat chocolate milk for after the run!!! What a great friend!!!
Like I say every week, I am so thankful for my friend Andria! I love that we share our running passion together!
Next week is 10 miles...and then the next week I'll be in Disney!!! Yay!!!
I have a WINNER of the Tiux Compression Socks! Congratulations to Laurel C!!! The awesome people from Tiux will be contacting you soon! :-)
QOTD: Have you ever been to a Mardi Gras parade?
