This week I had 8 miles on the schedule! Several of my Sole2Soul Sisters are training for the #RnRNola Full and they had a 22 mile run on their schedule. Andria and I decided to jump in and run our 8 with them.
I was excited about running a route that I hadn't run in a long time! It would be nice to have different scenery than the last few long runs.
We met some of the girls that were running between 8-10 miles around 6:15 that morning. The weather was hot and humid. And it was predicted to rain all day. We knew there was a chance we would be rained on. I made sure to have my phone in a ziploc bag just in case!
The run started out great! It was fun starting out with everyone and hearing everyone's feet as they pounded the pavement! And it was fun hearing everyone talk! Usually it's just me and Andria talking!
We made it to the first neighborhood that we were running a huge loop in. Running there brought back memories of my first marathon training! We turned out of that neighborhood and soon we were upon our next neighborhood. I'm not a fan of running in neighborhoods but these two weren't too bad. Before we knew it we had made it to mile 3.5 and our first water stop!
Andria and I were very thankful for the water stops. Last week on our 7 mile run we didn't have a water stop and I think Andria got a little dehydrated. So it was nice to have water this week.
I couldn't believe we were almost half way through our run! The first half had flown by! The second half was the same way! It flew by! I enjoyed running by all the cow pastures. This route was in the country and I loved it! Of course the cow smells weren't always pleasant!
We had about 2 miles to go and it started lightly raining. We were hot so it felt good! Before we knew it we had run our 8 miles!
My legs felt great the entire run! There was none of that tightness I had last week. I thought maybe the tightness last week was due to the weather and the high humidity but we had the same weather this week and my legs were fine. Weird!
It was a great run!
And I set more records with my new Garmin! ;-)
As always I was so thankful to run with Andria! Running is so much more fun when she runs with me!
After the run we drank our yummy low fat chocolate milk! It's my favorite way to recover! And it tastes so good after a run!
I'm so thankful for this good long run! I needed a run like this! It's the good ones that make the bad ones worth it!
QOTD: What's your favorite way to recover after a long run?
