Every year Miss Zippy hosts the year of running link up! I'm super excited to look back on my year and see how much my running has improved! I lost a total of 36 pounds this year and that helped me get faster and accomplish several PR's! I also started a run streak that has lasted way longer than I ever imagined! Here's my year of running for 2014!
Best race experience?
This would have to be the Gulf Coast Half Marathon where I ran my very first sub 2 half marathon (1:57:24 to be exact)! I felt great this entire race and just ran how I felt. I had no idea I would run a sub 2 so it was an amazing feeling!
For one of my training runs for the Talladega Half Marathon, I ran 10 miles. But these 10 miles were very, very hilly. My run was so good that it was like I didn't even notice those hills! While all my other running friends were struggling I was having the best run! It was incredible!
Best new piece of gear?
This one is easy! My Garmin Forerunner 220 that I got for my birthday! I love everything about this watch! But my favorite feature is that it will download my runs to Garmin Connect through Bluetooth. So when I'm out of town and don't have my laptop with me my runs are still downloaded! :-)
Best piece of running advice you received?
Have fun! If you're not having fun then what's the point? I always try to have fun while I'm running. That's why I love running with friends!
Most inspirational runner?
Every runner I meet is inspirational! It is hard work being a runner. It takes dedication, determination, strength, mental power, and so much more! Every runner I meet has an inspirational story!
If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be?
Determination, focus, strength, commitment, and hard work. This year I worked so hard to lose weight and get into better running shape. It took a lot of focus and determination to commit to running everyday and to change my eating habits.
2014 was a GREAT year! And I know 2015 will be even better!
