I did get in a 6 mile run with my friend Andria yesterday! I was worried about the heat and humidity since I got so used to those amazing California temps but I did great!
It's time for another runner spotlight...my favorite time of the week! I love reading other runners' stories about their running journey! If you are interested in being spotlighted on my blog please email me at mindy@roadrunnergirl.com! I'd love to spotlight you! You don't have to have a blog to be spotlighted...you just have to be a runner! ;-) And I'm running low on spotlights so now's your time to shine!!!
Today I'm spotlighting Lynda from Fitness Mom Wine Country! She lives in Wine Country in California (I'm jealous) and posts the most amazing recipes on her blog! Lynda is currently training for her first half marathon! Keep reading to learn more about her and her running journey!

When and why did you start running?
I loved to run when I was younger in
my 20’s then just did not really stay with it.
Not until the last few years, I picked it back up and am loving it. Mostly because our daughter is old enough to
join me and she is a beautiful runner.
What is your favorite race and race distance?
As of now I have only done 5k’s that
count and Color and Mud Runs, and I completed the Warrior Dash. I don’t have a favorite, I just enjoy them
all and have a blast. I am prepping for
my very first half marathon coming up at the end of June. The Zooma Napa Valley and that will be an
experience I am sure.
What is your race day routine?
Up early because I can’t sleep. Rinse my face, pull my hair back, brush my
teeth. Grab a banana, make myself eat a
small bowl of oatmeal {at least 30 mins prior to the race}. Head to the bathroom a million times, my
bladder is worse on race days. Go and
just do it.
What is your most favorite piece of running gear?
My Ulitmate Direction hand held water
bottle is a must. My Ipod shuffle {old
school style} has to be on me and I wear my
“Faith” bracelet every time I run, even if just a training run. Our daughter is named Faith and I have a bracelet with the name on it. It just means something to me while running.

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement
your running?
I drink Vega pre-workout energizer
about 20 mins before running. I swear by
this stuff. I also hydrate with Ultima
replenisher and add that my water.
Sometimes I use gel/energy blocks.
What do you wish you’d known when you first started running?
To understand my body and form
better, it took me a while. I am finally
getting it thanks you fellow runners like yourself and others that I read and
follow.
What is your fondest running memory?
The Napa Valley turkey trot. When our daughter was faster than I and
wanted to take off. I gave her my
blessing and remember watching her go and leave my site as she turned the corner. My eyes filled with tears of excitement for
her and I was so proud. I caught up just
in time to see her about ½ mile ahead of me sprint to the finish line and cross
it while I just cheered her on as loud as I could. My hubby and her brother were waiting for us
at the finish line. It was a mommy
moment for sure.
I am a sensitive person, I truly care about others and tend to get my feelings hurt easy because of it. I am very passionate about what I believe in and stand for and very loyal to those who are true to me and my family.
